The AEA Program

The launch of the IGNITE and INNOVATE streams of the Australian government’s $1.6 billion Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA), according to a recent report, could now be in early 2024.

The 21 recipients of Tranche One of the AEA SEED grants (the pilot for IGNITE) were announced in the last few days with grant funding ranging between $141,483 and $470,511. Two-thirds of the grants are for amounts under $200,000, with 2 in excess of $400,000.

The AEA is a core component of the government’s strategic approach to Australian innovation, feeding into the $393 million Industry Growth Program and the $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund.

There is a great deal of information about the different programs so we developed a handy infographic to illustrate the key elements of the AEA program and how it feeds into the innovation pipeline (based on available information to date and pending the release of the guidelines).
